Californian Voters Suffer Major Data Breach

You would think we would have learned our lesson by now concerning voter data given the fallout of accusations surrounding the 2016 election cycle.  Yet, here we are reading about another significant data breach involving potentially every voter record in the California.  I would discuss or at least mention the potential ramifications and reactions to such a breach, but I do not believe there will be any, at least not at a national press level.  We have become numb and this is a sad fact.

Ransomware Is Now Officially Extortion Under California Law

This is a great example of legislation catching up with technology.  I am thrilled to see this change in California.  There is no question that ransomware is a form of extortion and as such, it should be subject to the penalties associated with such a crime.
