Read this post. Print it out and tack it to the cork board. Study it. These are the foundational principles for getting projects moving forward, end of year or not. Every IT professional should build a playbook of these types of tips and be ready to go when the next need comes along. This is particularly applicable to IT Security personnel. Most of what we ask for in terms of security products is seen as overhead with no clear ROI. We are largely building preventative controls. As such, the battle is that much harder to win. Arm yourselves and fight the good fight.
